Dr. Cyres Mehta ::: Consulting Ophthalmic Surgeon

Dr Cyres Mehta underwent advanced training for Phacoemulsification Cataract surgery in USA under Prof. Howard Fine, the top cataract phaco surgeon in USA and invntor of clear corneal phaco surgery and by Prof. F. Rentsch, Germany one of the pioneers of the technique. He was awarded the Fellowship of the St. Vincentius Hospital, Karlsruhe Germany by Prof. F. Rentsch. He was awarded the fellowship of the American society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS). He is the first and youngest Indian Fellow of this society.

Dr Cyres Mehta has been the recipient of the following awards:

	Presbymania Award for Research into the Correction of Near Number, Given by Prof. Jerome Bovet, Head of Ophthalmic Network Organisation, Geneva 2009.

	The Gold Medal of the International Council of Glaucoma Surgeons, Switzerland 2003.
	The Outstanding young Indian for 2005,presented by Deputy CM Shri R. R. Patil and Padmavibhushan Dr. BK Goyal
	Rotary International Vocational Award for excellence in Cataract surgery and LASIK, presented by District Rotary governor Dr. Bharat Pandya 2006.
	Outstanding Young Indian award presented By Indian Jaycees at their District Conference at Goa by Shri Shripad Nayak, Union Transport Minister and Lok Sabha member.
	Aarogya Deep Award 2007 presented by Dist. Governor of Rotary International Dr. Shri Kolhatkar & Brahman Shabha.

He is the first Indian to:

	Be appointed Indian Editor of the Journal of the European Society of Cataract Surgeons, The most widely read Eye Magazine in the World.
	First Indian to address the Joint Meeting of the American and European Eye Surgeons (Moscow 2005).
	Youngest Eye Surgeon - To have his own course at the American and European Societies of Cataract Surgeons, Annual Meetings at the age of 32.
	Pioneer of Non Penetrating Glaucoma Surgery in India 2001.
	One of the Pioneers of Corneal Wavefront guided Lasik in India 2004.

He is a W.H.O (World Health Organization) fellow from Aravind Eye Institute Madurai for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopahthy by LASER.

He has lectured on phacoemulsification Cataract and Microphaco/AquaLase cataract surgery in San Francisco, San Diego, Milan, Paris and Chicago. He has pioneered Immersion Biometry lens power calculation in India for precise lens power calculation before cataract surgery.

He is an international level Phaco instructor and has taught many students in Live Surgery settings all over India. He has over 100 International papers and presentations to his credit Outside India.

In India he has over 80 papers and presentations at the All India, EyeAdvance and other meetings. He is the Journal Editor of the Indian Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society, India.

He has been appointed Hon. Ophthalmic consultant to Maharashtra Police and Hon Ophthalmologist at ONO Eye Hospital, Geneva, Switzerland. In 2003 he was awarded the Gold Medal of Indian Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society (IIRSI). He is a GOLD medal awardee of the International Society of Glaucoma Surgerons, Lausanne, Switzerland for his work on Deep Sclerectomy Glaucoma Surgery.
